Family Medicine Associates of Central New York, P.C.
To ESM Parents/Guardians:
In light of recent events in neighboring school districts I feel that it is important to remind parents/guardians and students about the proper use and storage of prescription medications. Medications have an important role in all of our lives. They can be life sustaining, healing, and improve quality of life. As we all know they can also be very dangerous and at times deadly if not used properly.
The East Syracuse-Minoa (ESM) Central School District and I would like to remind parents/guardians and students not to bring any medications to school without the proper clearance from the Nurse's Office. This would include over the counter medications as well as prescription medications. Many medications are dispensed safely every day by the ESM nursing staff. We do not want any tragedies occurring as a result of medication misuse.
We feel it is important to remind all of you to store your medications safely at home, and keep them in a place inaccessible to your children and others.
If you have any questions about proper use and handling of medications please feel free to contact your child's school nurse, counselor, or your child's guidance counselor.
Thank you for your continued cooperation.
Sincerely,
Daniel Rancier, MD
