My name is Nancy Chapellier and I am the ADAPEP/Support counselor here at Pine Grove. The Alcohol-Drug Abuse Prevention Education Program or ADAPEP is part of OCM BOCES and seeks to provide school based substance abuse prevention programs. ADAPEP supplies research based information, skill building, support and growth opportunities to encourage individuals to adopt health enhancing alternatives to substance abuse.
What does that program look like here at Pine Grove? I provide Project Success Prevention Education groups for those students at risk for substance abuse. Individual counseling using the Teen Intervene program is available for students who are currently abusing drugs or alcohol. Both programs are research based and shown to prevent or reduce substance abuse.
Other groups I run include: Grief, Social Skills, Anxiety, Friendship, Anger Management and Lunch Bunch. I provide one-on-one counseling as needed, coordinate our Peer Tutoring program at Woodland Elementary, implement classroom guidance on such topics as manners, bullying, cliques, etc. and participate in our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) team. These programs contribute to the ADAPEP mission of providing support and growth activities as alternatives to alcohol and drug use.
My office is located in the Counseling Suite and I may be reached at 434-3052 or via email at email@example.com. Feel free to contact me with any concerns or questions.
