Global History and Geography 1 Credit: 1 credit Year: 9 Prerequisite: 8th grade History This course, the first in a two-year sequence, follows a chronological format, emphasizing the development of man's political, economic, geographic and social institutions. European, African, Asian and Latin American histories are studied through their cultural heritages, conflicting ideologies and every-changing characters, from the formation of early civilizations through the Age of Enlightenment.
Global History and Geography 2Credit: 1 Year: 10 Prerequisite: Global History and Geography 1 This course focuses on the modern world after 1789. Events are studied through conflicting ideologies and ever-changing geopolitical patterns. Understanding of concepts associated with the modern world is reinforced through the application of various skills developed in previous social studies courses. Students must pass the Regents Exam in Global Studies and Geography as part of the course requirement.
United States History and Government Credit: 1 Year: 11 Prerequisite: Global History and Geography 2 This course follows a chronological format with emphasis on the development of political, social, technological and economic institutions within the American experience. As part of the course requirement, students must pass the Regents Exam in United States History.
Economics Credit: 1/2 Year: 12 Prerequisite: United States History and Government This one-semester course focuses on various micro- and macro-economic concepts and issues, including supply and demand, business organizations, markets and the role of government in the economy. Attention is also given to investments and a variety of consumer issues. This course is one-half of the four-year Social Studies requirement for graduation. Seniors taking this course must fulfill five hour community service requirement.
Psychology Credit: 1/2 Year: 11, 12(elective) Prerequisite: Global History and Geography 2 This course focuses on the scientific study of behavior and mental processes, giving a better understanding of human life and interaction. Course topics covered include the human life span, personality and thought, human relations, abnormal behavior, motivation and emotion.
SUPA Sociology
Credit: 1/2 College Credit: 3 Year: 11, 12(elective) Prerequisite: Global Studies and Geography Regents and United States History and Government Regents scores of 85+; successful completion of Unites States History and Government; teacher recommendation. This one-semester college-level course is designed as an analytic skills-based course in introductory sociology. It covers four units: identity, self and youth, power and inequality, globalization and post-modernism, and applied sociology. The emphasis is on analytic reading and conceptual analysis. This college-level course is taught under the auspices of the Project Advance program at Syracuse University. Successful completion of the course may earn the student three college credits and/or exemption from college courses. There is a tuition cost for enrollment in SUPA courses.
SUPA Economics Credit: 1/2 College Credit: 3 Year: 12 Prerequisite: United State History and Government Regents score of 85+; successful completion of United States History and Government; teacher recommendation. This one semester course focuses on the advanced study of economics, including micro- and macro-economics, general equilibrium analysis and neoclassical economic theory. Students are required to work on an advanced level. This is a college-level course taught through the Project Advance program at Syracuse University and replaces Economics as part of the four-year requirement for graduation. Successful completion of the course may earn the student three college credits and/or the exemption from college courses. There is a tuition cost for enrollment in SUPA courses.

Global History and Geography 2 HonorsCredit: 1 Year: 10 Prerequisite: Global History and Geography 1 score of 85+; teacher recommendation. This Regents-level course is designed for honor students in Social Studies and involves projects, as well as the development of critical thinking and writing skills. As part of the course requirement, students must pass the Regents Exam in Global History and Geography.
Participation in Government Credit: 1/2 Year: 12 Prerequisite: United States History and Government This one semester course focuses on comparative governments, interrelation of federal, state and local governments; citizenship; and a close examination of the Constitution and its amendments. This course is one-half of the four-year Social Studies requirement for graduation. Seniors taking this course must fulfill a five hour community service requirement.
Advanced Placement U.S. History Credit: 1 Year: 11, 12 Prerequisite: Global Studies and Geography Regents score of 85+; Social Studies and English teacher recommendations; successful completion of Global History and Geography 2. This is a college-level course in American History. Students are required to work on an advanced level. This course follows a chronological format with emphasis on the development of political, social, technological and economic institutions within the American experience. All students in the course will take the national Advanced Placement (AP) exam in May. This test may earn the student college credit and/or exemption from college courses. Students must also pass the Regents Exam in United States History as part of the course requirement.
Sociology Credit: 1/2 Year: 11, 12(elective) Prerequisite: Global History and Geography 2 This course focuses on the study of society and how people react in collective situations. It covers topics including family, social inter-action, socialization, group behavior, power and inequality.
SUPA Public Affairs Credit: 1/2 College Credit: 3 Year: 12 Prerequisite: United States History and Government Regents score of 85+; successful completion of United States History and Government; teacher recommendation. This one-semester course focuses on the formulation, evaluation and forecasting of the effect that public policy issues have on the political process. Students are required to work on an advanced level. This is a college-level course taught through the Project Advance program at Syracuse University and replaces Advanced Government as part of the four-year requirement for graduation. Successful completion of the course may earn the student three college credits and/or exemption from college courses. There is a tuition cost for enrollment in SUPA courses.
