Mrs. Kolod works for Jamesville-DeWitt School District as a Typist II. She has an associate’s degree from Empire State College and is also an ESM graduate. She is serving her third term on the ESM Board of Education and is currently the Board of Education President.
ESM is committed to providing our students with an education that prepares them to excel in a complex, interconnected changing world. It is vital that the Board of Education support the development and implementation of innovative ways of learning to give our students real life opportunities and experiences they can take with them beyond our doors.
Statewide, Boards of Education have been faced with fiscal challenges beyond our control over the last five years. Each year, our Board is mindful of the economic strains that have been placed on our families. As a District, it is essential we continue to balance the maintenance of high quality and relevant educational programming while being fiscally responsible to our community. Our budgets have seen steady, minimal increases while programming has seen improvements with new courses being introduced each year.
We continue to add college credit courses as we focus on academic excellence and rigor. Our comprehensive education programs have provided learning opportunities to those who are eager to learn but struggle with a traditional academic structure. These programs are essential to prepare our students for both college and career.
I am honored and privileged to serve on the ESM Board of Education. As a District, we have grown to become a national model as a 21st Century Learning Community where our students are engaged in a meaningful, learning environment each and every day.
